Port of Antwerp-Bruges and Lantis will support ten projects over the next two years aimed at making freight transport in and around Antwerp more efficient. The port says the combined support amounts to nearly one million euros. The projects were selected from more than thirty proposals submitted through an open call.

The initiatives follow three approaches: shifting more freight to inland waterways and rail, spreading transport more evenly across day and night, and improving digital coordination of logistics flows. Examples include new rail and barge connections, nighttime container handling, and software to plan journeys more efficiently. The programme forms part of the European ALTHEA innovation project.

International companies using Belgium as a logistics base may want to follow these developments. The announcement concerns selected projects and intended improvements, not guaranteed outcomes.
