Belgium: a central base for European business

Belgium’s location places businesses close to major markets in France, Germany and the Netherlands, with the United Kingdom nearby. Flanders Investment & Trade estimates that around 60% of Europe’s purchasing power is within 500 kilometres of Flanders. That figure describes the surrounding market’s scale; it does not mean every customer can be reached or served automatically.

Location matters because it is matched by connections. Belgium’s ports, roads, railways and inland waterways support movement between international arrivals and European destinations. Brussels is also home to European institutions and a broad international business community. Together, these features make Belgium a practical place from which to plan a presence, meet partners and coordinate activities across borders.

The European Commission describes the EU single market as serving about 450 million people. A Belgian company can participate in that wider market, subject to the rules relevant to its products, services and target countries. Aslan Consulting helps international entrepreneurs assess their Belgian establishment and organise the administrative work that follows.
